Is the Hackathon mandatory?
No, but everyone is encouraged to participate!
Who can participate?
Everybody is welcome to participate, including non-engineers and employees all over the world. Non-engineers can help in defining the product requirements, finding the right business use cases for the idea, helping with the design and the testing and/or working on the sales pitch and presentation deck.
I have too much work, I won’t have time to participate!
If you participate, you are not expected to perform your usual day-to-day work during the Hackathon. Your manager has been informed and will help you accommodate your schedule, so you have as much free time as possible during the Hackathon.
How late can I stay in the office during the Hackathon?
The office will be open all night. We will provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner throughout the event!

The demo
The demo of your product shouldn’t impact GumGum’s production systems. Your code will need to run in a test environment only
Due date
Your presentation should be ready by 9:00AM PST on Thursday, August 14th
Get excited for GumGum’s 5th annual Hackathon! Teams will hack on a project of their choice for 48 hours from 9AM PST on Tuesday, August 11th to 9AM PST Thursday August 14th.
Competitors will present their finished projects to a team of judges all day on Thursday August 14th, with the presentations live-streamed for all offices.
Our Hackathon is open to all GumGum employees, and we strongly encourage participants to work with people from other offices and departments.
